Myolie Wu Will Only Marry After 30 & At Her Sisters' Wedding
Myolie Wu’s older sister, Carri Wu, yesterday exchanged vows with her boyfriend of one year. Carrie thanked her parents on stage and began to cry while Myolie was seen teary eyed in the audience. After Carrie’s speech, Myolie and her other sister ran to give Carrie a hug.
Myolie has been busy filming “歲月風雲” but had two months earlier asked for a day off for her sister’s wedding. Both Myolie and her second sister were the bridesmaids. When asked how she felt seeing her older sister get married, Myolie laughed and said, “It made me want to get married and hope that someone would take care of me and love me for the rest of my life. But I am still young, so my career is more important. I don’t have a boyfriend at the moment. (What about Bosco Wong?) The rumours are false. Finding a husband is different.”
Myolie then revealed that she had given Carrie red underwear, hoping that her sister will have children soon. Myolie expressed that she felt more nervous about the marriage than her sister, making her unable to sleep the night before. She then disclosed that she will only begin to consider getting married when she is 30 years old, unless she marries a rich man like Cathy Tsui.
Myolie Wu's elder sister Carrie Wu married her boyfriend of one year Cheng Wing Shun yesterday and held a Western Ceremony at a church. They will choose an auspicious date later for the banquet. Myolie bought the bride a set of sexy Chinese style lingerie as a wedding gift and wishes for them to have children soon, making her parents smile widely. As one of the bridesmaids, Myolie says: "Of course all girls want to get married, but only after I am 30. I am still in my twenties now and many artistes in their 30's are still working hard at the peak of their careers. (Is Bosco Wong a likely candidate for marriage?) I don't have anyone in mind at the moment, he is my rumoured boyfriend, that means it is not true. My requirements keep changing, but the basic thing is that he can look after me."

Ron Ng and Shirley Yeung Performing in New York to Make Money
Ron Ng and Shirley Yeung were in New York this Christmas to make money doing a stage performance; they were invited to be the performing guests at a promotional function held by a cosmetic centre. Due to the tight schedule, they immediately went to their performance site for a last practice for the show held the next day, after their arrival at noon. Although it’s the first time going to New York for the both of them, the atmosphere created by the audience was great and “encore” was even requested a few times. Both of them performed 4 songs and successfully finished all their performances; Ron even had the chance to a “friendly competition” with a male dancer there and even became friends, making an appointment at New York in May to learn off of him. As for Shirley, she went shopping after the show.
After the performance, they both had an hour of free time where Shirley immediately went shopping and spent a 5-digit amount to buy Christmas presents for her friends and family, as well as choosing over 10 pairs of shoes for herself, complimenting it’s nice and cheap/inexpensive. Ron though, didn’t get too much and only did some window shopping. After the shopping, although it was already dark and they were tired, they still chose to go around for a car ride and went to Times Square, being able to see the grandness and the atmosphere of a holiday.
Towards this trip to New York, both of them thought it was spent well and happily, taking work like entertainment. But Shirley is still slightly disappointed because she was unable to personally see the scenery when it is snowing. And Ron had always wished for a tour around New York and this time it’s finally granted; the most important though, is being able to see the fans that have supported him for years and he hopes there would be another chance for him to go around and shop more.

Selena Li Admits Being Good Friends With Patrick Tang
Selena Li Admits Being Good Friends with Patrick Tang
Rumoured couple Selena Li and Patrick Tang were spotted returning to Hong Kong together earlier and Patrick continues to deny that they are dating, just smiling: "We are very good friends. She went to Beijing to visit her family and friends and she saw me in passing. (Are you afraid of the pressure of revealing your relationship?) My priority is my work, so I don't want to talk about anything else, including romance." Selena also smiled sweetly and said: "We are good friends. It is time to work hard at the moment, so we will keep it this way for now."

2006 was a rewarding year for Charmaine and her career has been recognised. However, on the day of the awards ceremony, her mother was rushed into hospital with internal bleeding and in a coma, making her feelings very mixed. After the sadness, she now hopes to find her true love. For Kevin, his work is going well, but he did injure himself playing tennis and he realises that everything has to be done in moderation. Looking forward to next year, he hopes that he can buy a property.
January - New Year Party Girl
Charmaine: "I will be filming a movie with Hacken Lee, where I play a very greedy Mongkok girl and I hope that this will give everyone a fresh image. This is one of my new year wishes."
Kevin: "I wish the readers good progress in the new year and good health. I will do more sport in the coming yeard and keep myself healthy."
February - Surprise Time
Charmaine: "I hope that a lover will appear for Valentines Day and I can have a day off then and make him a heart shaped steak. If there is no lover, then I will work and spend it with my colleagues."
Kevin: "Of course you have to give a surprise to the other person on Valentines Day! If you usually go out to eat, then take this chance to cook yourself and give a little surprise."
March - Big Plans for Spring
Charmaine: "In spring this year, I should be filming in Beijing, Shanghai and Ningbo, so I will be very busy. I hope that I can find candied crabapples there because they use strawberries there and they are very fragrant and leave lasting memories."
Kevin: "I have always liked to do sport, so I don't like the rain. When it is humid in spring it is very dirty and I don't like that sticky feeling. However, we have to pass through this period before we see the sunshine, so I will decide my plans for the year in spring and then work hard to achieve them."
April - Beware of Liars
Charmaine: "I think I should still be working, this time I will not waste the chance and I will eat all the delicacies in the area. I am so happy when I think about it."
Kevin: "Few people celebrate April Fools Day, but remember not to believe anyone on the 1st April! If it is a beautiful lie that makes people feel better though, then that is okay."
May - Not Working on Birthday
Charmaine: "Every year on my birthday 28th May, I only get half a day off. I hope that I can have the whole day off this year and celebrate with my friends because I like a good atmosphere."
Kevin: "I have never tried Dragon Boat Racing, so I will be getting fit in May ready for the race in June and keeping a strong body."
June - New Fashions for Summer
Charmaine: "Summer is here, so of course I have to go shopping for some new outfits. Every year I will only buy the expensive clothes that I need, so I will not spend frivolously."
Kevin: "Every year when I buy clothes, I will be asked why they all look the same and when I check in my wardrobe at home, I realised that they are! I think this year I will have to change my tastes."
July - Sunshine Sales
Charmaine: "I hope to go and visit my mother in Hawaii and have a long vacation."
Kevin: "I love sunshine and sandy beaches, sunbathing and relaxing."
August - Learning to Cook to Seek Vengeance
Charmaine: "I plan to apply to learn how to cook Western food. I remember when I was at school I came last in a dessert making competition, so I would like to win for once."
Kevin: "Last year on my birthday on 15th August, I received many presents. This year, my birthday wish will be to buy myself an apartment and be a property owner."
September - Looking for Love at Moon Festival
Charmaine: "I did not have any mooncakes last year, I hope that this year there will be someone to share a mooncake with me and then play with lanterns and enjoy the moonlight."
Kevin: "I used to have a courtyard at home, where we could sit as a family and enjoy the moon. My mother is from the North, so she makes sweet dumplings and Shanghai snacks that I miss so much."
October - Hiding for Halloween
Charmaine: "It has been a long time since I celebrated Halloween in Central. There are too many reporters there and I feel that they are ready to ambush at any time. Please don't bother me, I will hide away to celebrate quietly."
Kevin: "I remember I dressed up as Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands and it was really great because no-one recognised me."
November - Anniversary Pay Rise
Charmaine: "Of course I have to look my very best for the anniversary. As for winning an award, then I will leave it down to fate."
Kevin: "TVB's birthday, I hope that the quality of productions keeps going up and the ratings also keep rising, so everyone has a pay rise."
December - Christmas in Japan
Charmaine: "It has been ten years since I went on vacation at Christmas, so I hope to be in Japan for Christmas in 2007."
Kevin: "When I was young, I have written a card to Santa Claus, but I just hung it on the Christmas tree and would not send it out, but I was still very happy."

Raymond Lam On Older Woman, Younger Man Relatioships
Raymond Lam Fung accepted an interview with a mainland newspaper yesterday and spoke about his views on an older woman, younger man relationship. "An older woman, younger man relationship is a blessing for a man. However, the age difference shouldn't be too vast."
"When a man is still in his 20's and doesn't know how to take care of himself, he is willing to accept an older woman, younger man relationship. However, when he reaches his 30's, he may no longer feel this way."
When reporters pointed out that due to the success of "La Femme Desperado," Raymond became an "office lady killer," he was a little astonished. "Really? Actually 'La Femme Desperado' helped turn my image around successfully. In the past, I acted mainly in martial arts series. I've had enough of wearing anicent headpieces! After acting in 'La Femme Desperado,' I have not starred in an anicent drama ever since!"
"In 2006, I filmed many series, such as 'Master of Taichi,' 'Heart of Greed,' etc. Hopefully the audience will be able to watch these series in 2007! In 'Heart of Greed,' my character is involved with Yoyo Mung and Linda Chung at the same time. Since I am against cheating in a relationship, it was a challenge acting this role!"
What is Raymond's viewpoint on love? "It is a blessing to be dating, since I have no time. The Hong Kong paparazzi is very aggressive. Whether you go out with the same or opposite sex, they will stir up rumors. That's why I don't go out to eat with anyone and prefer to have meals at home. I am not afraid for myself, but rather that these rumors will impact others negatively."
Earlier in the year, Raymond was photographed going out with his female assistant and the tabloids speculated that they were dating. "She has been my assistant for many years and she has always done a good job. These type of rumors are quite nonsensical!"

Ella Koon Cried In Fear While Caught In Taiwan Earthquake
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 hit Taiwan on Wednesday. Ella Koon Yan Na was in Taiwan filming at the time. Ella was quite alarmed by the sudden earthquake and could not get in touch with her mother, due to the disruption in telecommunications service.
In a state of panic, Ella could only cry in fear. As mild tremors of the earthquake continued during the night, Ella could not fall asleep either.
Reporters contacted Ella afterwards. "Around 8 PM, during the first tremors of the earthquake, I was still filming. I was so scared, I could only hang on to the people beside me. My heart almost popped out in fear. Afterwards I realized that I had squeezed that person's so hard it had turned red! When the second tremor of the earthquake striked, I was walking through the studio hallway. I immediately screamed out in fear! The lighting crew rushed over to comfort me...."
The force of the earthquake in Southern Taiwan was so strong that it could be felt all the way in Hong Kong. After Ella's initial shock cleared, she immediated phoned her mother. However due to the earthquake, the lines were busy and it took a long time to get through. When the phone connection was finally established, Ella started crying.
Ella indicated that experiencing an earthquake was terrifying. However she did not complete her work in Taiwan yet, so she could not return to Hong Kong early. But she will notify her friends and family of her safety. Ella was worried that there will be another earthquake in Taiwan, thus causing her much mental anxiety.
Kenny Wong Tak Bun was filming in Hong Kong on the night of the earthquake. Kenny was doing a headstand at the time and felt a rush of dizziness. Afterwards the production crew pointed out that it was an earthquake.
Did Kenny think of his girlfriend when he felt the earthquake? "It's not like I was about to die! My fear was not to that degree! Several years ago, I had encountered another earthquake in the Philippines. The night before, I was only slightly alarmed!"

Charmaine Sheh Praises Raymond Lam As Handsome
Charmaine Sheh Praises Raymond Lam as Handsome
Hong Kong TVB popular fadan Charmaine Sheh is currently filming the 60 episodes [Drive of Life] until May next year, with Raymond Lam acting as her boyfriend in the series.
Working together for the 3rd time, Charmaine's impression on Ray is still: "Same, a handsome guy." Asked if she was "electrified" (charmed) by Ray, Charmaine jokingly asked: "Shouldn't you ask him whether he's charmed by me?"
Facing the recent rumors with Ray and Ron Ng, Charmaine said that she feels nothing about the news: "The media will write whatever they want. If there's no rumor news between onscreen lovers, that is a bit worrying. Maybe because we're all single, but I hope there won't be much rumors. The HK tabloids often write rumors or falling out among artistes, but readers will know what is the truth."
Wanting a boyfriend in 2007
Charmaine's wish for 2007 is to find a new boyfriend. She said: "Because I don't have a boyfriend, so I need to find one."
Asking how? She replied: "Just let things go naturally, I believe in fate."
Recently, there's a lot of reports mentioning her supposed break up with rumored boyfriend Benny Chan, ending their 4 year relationship. However, upon hearing "Benny Chan", she immediately said: "Please don't mention him anymore, or else I will not have chance to find a boyfriend."
Charmaine mentioned that when filming series with Joe Ma, their relationship got closer due to "personal brick".
Stepping on Joe Ma's foot to act
Because Charmaine's series [Strike at Heart] was due to air soon (Singapore), Charmaine was asked about her deepest impression, which is while filming opposite Joe Ma: "Joe is really tall, even though I wore high heeled shoes it still couldn't work. Therefore, I will bring two piece of personal brick and step on them when filming close up shot."
What if she forgot to bring them? Charmaine says: "Stepping on Joe's feet. It's very funny, because he's too tall, it wouldn't look good if there's too much difference between our height. So he let me stand on his feet instead."
Another series of Charmaine, [Always Ready] was also due to air soon. In the series, Charmaine is partnered with Ekin Cheng. Her impression of him: "He's quite lively, loves to work out, he keep jumping (moving) non-stop everywhere, plus he like to joke around, but he is a very professional actor."
2006: Charmaine's year of harvest
Charmaine recently won TVB's "Best Actress" and "Favorite Female Character" award. "I'm still feeling excited, because I never thought of receiving two awards." Will she feel pressured, now that she've won two award? "No, because I will do my best in every series."
Meanwhile, Charmaine also won the bronze Favorite New Singer in a HK magazine award for her subtheme song in [Dance of Passion]. Mentioning this, Charmaine said she was also surprised by it: "I never expected to get this award, it increases my confidence in singing, but at the moment I still prefer acting."
This year was Charmaine's year of harvest. She said: "Getting "Best Actress" award has always been my wish. Receiving awards from the start till the end of this year, I won't forget this year."
For the coming Christmas, what Charmaine wish more to receive as Christmas gift is a holiday. "The schedule has been arranged up to 23rd, it's quite ambiguous. Hope that I'll get a holiday on Christmas. If I had to work, I hope I still can attend party in the night."
The last long break Charmaine had, was prior to filming [Drive]. She took a 3 month break to accompany her sick mother in US.
Entering showbiz for 10 years, no gain without working
Joining the showbiz for nearly 10 years, Charmaine's insight was: "There is no gain without working. You can't rise to the top within a step, but slowly accumulate experience and not to give up easily."
When she first entered showbiz, Charmaine thought of giving up. "Filming the first series, I thought I've tried my best, only get to sleep for 4 hours daily, and I thought that filming was a success. Afterward the reports criticized me of not knowing how to act, having a bad voice. I doubted that I shouldn't be an artiste, thought of leaving. However, fate kept me working on another series, and until now I have yet to leave the showbiz.

Raymond Lam: It's The Same As Eating Human
Raymond Lam: It's the same as eating human
Imprisoned for 30 Days for Slaughtering and Eating Dog
Artists Complain About the Light Punishment
Raymond Lam: It's the same as eating human
Last month, four middle-aged men cooked two dogs that they had raised themselves and were arrested by the police. The day before, they were taken to court where they admitted that they had killed the dog for food and were sentenced to thirty days in gaol, becoming the first people in Hong Kong to be charged with the law for cats and dogs since it's establishment half a century ago.
Many artists in the entertainment industry have dogs or cats as pets, and after this incident was published in the magazine yesterday, many artists were appalled. Twins, Gigi Fu, Leila Tong and others all criticised that the sentence of thirty days was too light, and that the punishment should be harsher in order to teach them a lesson. Eunis Chan voiced that the people deserved the punishment they got, while Raymond Lam said that this incident made him fearful and even described it as being, "no different to eating human."
Raymond Lam:
Their punishment should be having to eat as vegetarians for the rest of their life. "When I saw how these people treated the dogs on the news, I felt scared. They raised the dogs themselves, how could they eat them? Eating dog meat is not different to eating human, because dogs are the most loyal friends to humans, they have a conscience, killing a dog is no different to murdering a human, so I think being imprisoned for one month only is too light. The people who killed the dogs should also have to eat as vegetarians for the rest of their lives."
Eunis Chan
The act of eating dog meat is too cruel. "The people who slaughtered the dog deserved the punishment. As to whether the sentence was too light, that is to be determined by the judge, but these this cannot be tolerated, because dogs are friends to humans, you can talk to them, the act of eating dog meat is too cruel."
Twins
A lot of people challenge laws. "We think that there are a lot of people starting to challenge law. If you've broken the law then you must be punished, one month is really too little, but I don't know how long the sentence should be. We think education should be encouraged, and kids should be taught from when they are little how to take care of pets, the environment and to love the people around them. Earlier, in a magazine we saw a scene of a dog being slaughtered in Mainland, seeing the dog being killed like that, I couldn’t help but cry."
Jessica Hsuan:
Hopes for the government to give them a harsher punishment. "Those people were very wrong to eat the dogs that they had raised themselves, because dogs are very trusting of their masters, but now, the ones who had killed them were their masters, it is very wrong. Sentencing them to gaol is to teach them a lesson, but if in the future there is a similar case to this, hopefully the government can make the punishment harsher."
Alex Fong:
No different to murder. "I think that charging them for slaughter is not enough. They raised the two dogs themselves, raising them for so long then killing them to eat, how is it different to murder? The people have problems, when my pet goldfish died I was unhappy, let alone a dog! There's so much food in Hong Kong that they don't eat, but they have to eat dog meat. This time, being in gaol for thirty days, they're going to have a lot to endure! But no matter what, this is the first case of its kind, it can teach everyone a lesson."
Louis Koo:
So cruel and so immoral. "When I was watching the news I was practically burning in anger. It was so cruel and so immoral, they didn't know whether the dogs had diseases or not, there's a chance that after they eat the dog, that they then spread a disease to other people. Dogs are friends to humans, and you don't raise them to eat them. At least this can act as a warning to other people. I myself care a lot for my dogs, seeing this makes me really unhappy and uncomfortable."
Joyce Tang:
Eating your own dog is cruel. "They ate dogs that they raised themselves, that is really cruel, I think that their actions are very cruel, spending one month in gaol is like a warning, I believe that when they come out again they’d be scared to eat in Hong Kong, they'd probably go back to Mainland for food, but this is wrong and I won’t promote it."
Gigi Fu:
They should see a psychologist. "Their actions are very shameful, they are basically cold-blooded, perverted murderer. I think that besides serving in gaol, they should be fined and have to see a psychologist. They watched the dog grow up, how could they kill it and eat it? Are they perverted or what?"
Bosco Wong:
These people are basically perverted. "The sentence is too light, it doesn't make sense. When I heard I was mad, are these people crazy? Why don't they raise a child they kill him? It's a life, too, their actions are so cold-blooded it's indescribable, they're perverted, their sentence should be heavier and they should have to do community service and do volunteer work for dogs."
Leila Tong:
It'd be only be effective if the sentence was half a year long. "These kinds of things should not happen in this century. I think it's very cold-blooded. Serving for one month is too little, they should at least have to serve for half a year to have any effect. I don't think this is the first time they are doing this, they know how to use the fire to burn the fur, I understand a little bit, since there's a lot of meat that can be eaten, but I don't understand how they could bear to kill them. They raised the dogs themselves, and when the dog walks over to them, it was probably wagging its tail and moving its head, I'm really mad!"

Charmaine Sheh Doesn't Want To Be Linked With Benny Chan
Charmaine Sheh and Benny Chan's relationship has been dragging for some years and both of their names were often linked together. Even if Charmaine doesn't feel tired, surely the audiences felt bored by now. Charmaine's year 2007 resolution is to find a good boyfriend and have a sweet romance. She hope that people will not link Benny Chan with her in future.
This year can be described as Charmaine's most bountiful year. Apart from TVB Best Actress award, she have also won other awards. Charmaine is of course happy that her acting received recognition from audiences. She said: "2006 is passing quickly. To be honest, I feel reluctant, it has been a smooth year, there's not much series filming, but the feeling's comfortable. Previously, because my mum was sick, I took a 3 month leave to accompany my mum. When I returned (to HK), "Glittering Days" was broadcasted as anniversary series and received good response, my health was good and I was able to make money, so I'm very satisfied!"
Mentioning about romance aspect, she frankly said that she has not dated for many years. Though she had clarified being friends only with Benny Chan, she's still frequently linked with Benny's name. She seriously said: "I do not wish to be frequently linked with Benny Chan. If this goes on, it will be hard to shake off and I will not able to get married! I hope to get a good boyfriend in 2007, sweet and nice! I do not have any special requirement from the opposite party, the most important thing is we get along comfortably and happily. I believe in fate."
Slowing down on future series
Next year is Charmaine's 10 year anniversary since joining showbiz, in other words she can receive the label of "senior". She feel that time passes quickly. In the past, she has diligently filmed series and receive good results from various aspect. Next year, she hope to have some change in her work, stressing on quality rather than quantity. She pointed out that she have filmed 28 series over the last 9 years, has tried different themes and roles, you can say she's the artiste that has tried all. Therefore, she'll be more selective of her future projects. She emphasized that she wouldn't let go of good scripts, just like her current handover series [Drive of Life]. [Drive] is set to be aired July 1st next year, coincidently is also her 10th anniversary of joining showbiz, making it a good commemoration for her.

Romance in the Rain as Bosco and Natalie Share a Soaking
Bosco Wong and Natalie Tong were filming earlier for a romantic rain scene where they were soaked to the skin and shivering with cold. Still suffering from his earlier illness, Bosco did not have anything underneath his costume either, but Natalie was smart and covered herself with cling film protection.
Bosco and Natalie were filming for a scene in TVB's new series "The Seventh Day" in a rain scene that tells of them still having feelings for each other after splitting up and nearly succumb to the temptation of a forbidden kiss. Bosco is still suffering from flu but he was without fear as he filmed the scene without anything under his clothes and although he claimed he was fine and could hang on, he was sneezing and his nose was running throughout. Fortunately, his mother had prepared a flask of ginger tea for him, which he shared with Natalie to warm up.
Talking of their earlier kissing scene, Natalie was asked whether she was afraid of Bosco infecting her with his germs. She said: "On that day, he had recovered a lot, but afterwards, I did have a slightly tickly throat. Fortunately, everything was fine and it proves I have a strong immune system."
Aside from this, Natalie has just split up from boyfriend Amigo Chui and asked if he was afraid that this scene might stir up some of her emotions, Bosco says: "Oh? I did not know they had split up. She seems to be fine though and in this series, I am treating all the girls as my sisters and I will look after them. (Will you comfort her?) She is fine." Natalie was in high spirits and laughing and joking with the crew during filming.

Ron and Toby Back Together Again
Ron Ng, Toby Leung and Michael Miu were filming yesterday for "The Drive of Life" and having already worked together in "Men in Pain", Ron and Toby are paired up again in this series and asked if they have any kissing scenes, she says: "I don't know, there shouldn't be! This time it is just baby love. I don't mind as long as it tells the story then it is ok." She reveals that she has already received some Christmas presents: "I have received some! I will usually put them under the tree at home and wait until Boxing Day before I open them."
Also, having just returned from a stage performance in New York, Ron indicated that he will be staying at home on Christmas Day. "Of course I have had invitations, but I have not accepted any yet. Michael indicates that he will finish work early to go and celebrate with his family. Asked if he has bought gifts for his son and daughter, he says: "Every year on Christmas morning, I will place some gifts on their beds and as they have grown up, they know that the gift is from me, but they still pretend to be surprised and we all make each other happy."

Raymond Lam Cooks to Celebrate Christmas
Raymond Lam reviews his work for 2006; he was very hardworking, including his new series, The Legendary Era, this year he filmed a total of 160 episodes, with each series' characters and acting style being totally different. Hopefully, his productions will release one after another in 2007 for audiences to enjoy. He said, "This year, I had a chance to step into the Coliseum to perform a song and dance, I really hope that next year I can have my own album. Actually, after all these years, the record company is still discussing it, hopefully in 2007 I can achieve this wish."
Raymond doesn't have to work on Christmas Eve, and he revealed that his younger brother is on holidays and is returning to Hong Kong to celebrate Christmas. If time allows, Raymond plans to cook steak to spend Christmas happily with his brother. Asking where he had bought himself a present, he excitedly said, "After work I would go and buy presents for my family, friends and myself. Every store is having a big sale, I definitely am not going to miss this shopping chance!"

Ray's SUPER nice . Hope his wish comes true!
Kenny Kwan's Interview
Kenny Kwan, born 30 December 1980, rose to fame at the age of 20 as one half of the duo Boy'z. After Boy'z enjoyed success, both in the recording studio and on the film set, Kwan decided, in January 2005, to leave and pursue personal projects. His former Boy'z bandmate Steven Cheung first continued Boy'z with a new partner, then, in June 2006, reinvented the group with a third member under the name Sun Boy'z.
It was a risk for Kwan, leaving the success of Boy'z. At the time of the split, many music critics questioned whether or not he had the talent to cope with going on to new pastures alone. Kwan's three solo albums prove that he has staying power, if not overwhelming critical acclaim. Squat's Derek Tsang caught up with Kwan to discuss how things are going for him flying solo.
Derek: Are you and Steven still mates?
Kenny: We are definitely still great friends, and our relationship could be compared to as brothers. I look at him as my younger brother because during our time together as Boy’z, I would take the initiative to look after him.
D: What do you think of Sun Boy’z?
K: I think they are a great group. Full of energy, really healthy and also a great role model for their fans. I support them with everything I’ve got.
D: Everyone thinks that you are super cute. If you weren’t cute what would you prefer to be?
K: First of all, I’d like to say that I’m not super cute. But people tell me that I look like certain characters in comic books. But looks aren’t everything. I concentrate more on my inner development as a human being. I see myself as an open-minded, down-to-earth, respectful, and polite young man.
D: How different is being a solo artist compared to being in a duo?
K: There are certain pros and cons in being in a duo and being a solo artist. With a duo there’s the feeling of unity, teamwork, and confidence as an item. With being a solo artist there’s a greater range in freedom of expression. But with greater freedom, the pressure increases and sometimes it’s quite nerve-racking being on stage just by myself.
D: It must have been daunting to leave the popular Boy’z and pursue a solo career. How did you feel at the time?
K: Back then I felt very confused and worried. I kept on having doubts about myself taking on this journey alone. It was a self-confidence issue. But with the love and encouragement from my manager, co-workers, family and friends I fought through the rough times. They also encouraged me to take a music course in Singapore to expand my knowledge in this art. That really boasted my confidence and lifted my hopes.
D: You and Steven made a great team. Any chance of collaborating with him in the future?
K: Not within the near future. But I hope we will have the chance to work together again. Both of us are doing our own thing now so we should just concentrate on our own projects for the time being.

"The Price of Greed" Released Worldwide
Some people are greedy for money, love, and success.... If there exists greed in one's heart, it will easily lead to one's downfall. Even swindlers will be caught in their own web of deceit! TVB's new series, "The Price of Greed," starring Bosco Wong, Sammul Chan, Shirley Yeung, and Kate Tsui Tsi San was released worldwide yesterday.
In the series, Kate Tsui plays a wealthy heiress who falls passionately in love with Sammul Chan. Policeman Bosco Wong has a moving relationship with mute violinist Shirley Yeung. However, beneath the surface of these romances lies many shattering secrets.
Sammul Chan's character borders on the boundaries of good and evil. You will not know the true identity of his character until the very ending of the series! This role is a big breakthrough for Sammul, "This is the first time I have acted in such a role. It is a new experience, but at the same time, I am afraid of the backlash from audiences! If this character does incur the audience's hatred, then that indicates my successful portrayal. But my emotions are quite contradictory now!"
Playing Sammul's love interest, Kate Tsui was deeply impacted by her role. "My character is very stubborn in love, to the point where she becomes very greedy for love, falling into various emotional traps."
"My personality in real life is very open and cheerful. It is completely different than my role in the series. In order to immerse fully into my character, I had to maintain a depressed personality during filming. During that timeframe, my friends observed a dramatic change in my behavior."
In the series, Kate has numerous crying scenes. "At first I couldn't force out any tears, but luckily there were many veternans who gave me advice. Immersing into the character also helps. Now when I film series, I can cry non-stop!"
This is not the first time Shirley Yeung has played a character with a disability. Shirley especially learned sign language and how to play the violin for her role in "The Price of Greed." Shirley added, "I also attended several events to observe the behavior and gestures of mute people. When they realized I will be playing a mute in the series, they expressed their anticipation of my performance!"
In her violin scenes, Shirley plays the music herself. "After filming, I felt an immense sense of satisfaction because each scene was like a concert performance for me!"
Bosco Wong, who has numerous scenes opposite Shirley, revealed the various challenges during filming. "Since Shirley plays a mute character, she needs to communicate through sign language. However I do not understand sign language and found it confusing to respond appropriately and in synch. A lot of time was spent memorizing what her various hand signals meant and the corresponding script lines."
"I had to understand what was the best method to act our scenes together, as Shirley can not speak. In the early stages of filming, if I didn't pay close attention, it was very easy to forget my lines in our scenes together!" However through "The Price of Greed," Bosco was able to learn basic sign language, which was an unexpected bonus!
